The Leeds midfielder was dismissed in the first half of Saturday's final home league game of the season following a clash with Ashley Barnes and is currently facing a three-match ban.

The game was a fiery encounter that ended with Leeds reduced to nine men and Brighton, who sealed a Championship play-off spot, down to ten at the final whistle.

Inigo Calderon was red carded for hauling down El-Hadji Diouf and the Senegalese striker was in turn also dismissed for making a gesture to the visting Albion fans.

Austin is expected to learn his fate early this week when his appeal is heard by the Football Association.

Meanwhile, Leeds have announced that Diouf has been fined two weeks' wages after his weekend dismissal.

Manager Brian McDermott said: "I've spoken to him and he has apologised regarding the sending off on Saturday.

"He has accepted the sending off and the club have fined him two weeks' wages

which is the maximum we can do."
