The Eagles take on Watford in the Championship play-off final on Monday with a place among the elite and an estimated windfall of £120million at stake.

Should they secure promotion, Palace will begin life in the top flight without star winger Wilfried Zaha, who is joining Manchester United, and injured 30-goal top scorer Glenn Murray, but defender Delaney insists they do not necessarily need to splash the cash.

"If you get there you deserve it," said Delaney.

"It would be a great problem to have but the club will spend wisely, Wilf has already gone but money will be made available. They are good problems to have and ones we'd love to have. I'd love a crack at it.

"You can look at individuals and say you need X, Y and Z but there is a lot to be said for togetherness. I'm not saying we are going to go and beat the top sides in the Premier League but if you look from maybe 12th down I think we are good enough to compete in that mini-league.

"Can we go to Manchester United and Manchester City and win? Realistically that will be difficult. But would I like to go to Sunderland and play? Hell yeah!"

icky van Wolfswinkel's remarkable record of one goal from one game at least deserves an honourable mention. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of Costa, Ulloa or Enner Valencia will earn a place on the list by the end of the season. Probably not Costa
