The Rams have made steady progress over recent years and ended the 2012/13 campaign in 10th place - seven points adrift of the Championship play-off places.

Clough is looking to take another positive step forward next term, with Derby eyeing a return to the Premier League after five years in the second tier.

Bringing the right players in this summer will be key to the Rams' ambition, with a recruitment drive well under way.

Clough is delighted with the business he has been able to carry out so far and feels a few minor tweaks here and there will have Derby raring to go come August 4.

"There is a little bit of work to do on the outs, but I think we have got the best squad we have had for some time," Clough told Sky Sports News.

"We'd love to aim for the top six. Whether that is realistic or not, we don't know yet. We will need some luck on the way, we need to keep them fit, but that's our aim."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
