The 28-year-old, whose Stamford Bridge contract expired earlier this summer, joins Rovers on a one-year deal.

Neil Sullivan and Gary Woods have both left the Keepmoat since the end of last season, and Turnbull arrives as the club's most senior keeper.

The move follows confirmation of former Brentford midfielder Harry Forrester's arrival on a three-year deal.

And Rovers have also announced the completion of a season-long loan for Tottenham's South Africa defender Bongani Khumalo.
