Collins suffered the injury during the 1-1 Sky Bet Championship draw with Bournemouth at the City Ground on Saturday, with subsequent tests revealing that the former Wales international has damaged ligaments.

Further tests are planned to determine the full extent of the problem but the club have yet to put a timescale on Collins' absence.

Meanwhile, Reds boss Billy Davies will be buoyed by the return to fitness of Jamie Paterson. The forward has been out recently due to illness but could come back into contention for the trip to Yeovil at the weekend.
