The Seagulls moved to snap up Leonardo Ulloa and Mathew Upson last January, helping them to consolidate a standing inside the Championship play-off places.

Their business was complicated, though, by passport issues which prevented Ulloa from completing a switch from Almeria at the start of the season.

Bloom is eager to avoid a repeat in 2014, with Brighton reluctant to dip into a New Year market which is notoriously difficult to negotiate.

He told the Argus: "We don't need that this January, assuming we get our injured players back.

"I don't like doing too much business in January and this January I don't expect to do very much at all."

One issue the Seagulls will be looking to address concerns the future of loan star Lita, with it hoped that Swansea City will agree to an extension of an agreement which is due to expire on 1st January.

Bloom added: "I think there's a great chance.

"I don't want to talk too much beyond 1st January. If Leroy plays games and does well there is a conversation to be had at the end of the year.

"We are delighted we've got him, he's got a great pedigree. He's a bit short of match fitness. Once he gets that I think he is going to be a huge benefit."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
