On-loan Spurs midfielder Carroll returned to White Hart Lane for treatment on an ankle injury he suffered while on England Under-21 duty.

But the 21-year-old is back at Loftus Road after making good progress in his recovery - and Rs boss Redknapp believes he could be in the frame for the Sky Bet Championship with the Addicks on Saturday, November 23.

"Tom's back with us after getting treatment at Spurs, and maybe looks like being back after the break," Redknapp told the Fulham Chronicle.

Tom Hitchcock, meanwhile, looks set for a loan spell with either a Championship rival or a League One team.

Hitchcock, the son of Hoops keeper coach Kevin, spent a loan spell at League Two Bristol Rovers last season - and Redknapp is keen to see how he performs at a higher level.

"Tom Hitchcock needs to go out on loan and step up a division from where he was last year," added Redknapp. "Maybe with someone in League One or the lower part of the Championship."

resumably, you wanted to keep the version of Downing that was never seen at Anfield. The one that another manager has managed to re-create. The one you passed over.

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.
