The Championship outfit have found themselves the focus of unwanted attention in recent weeks, with a takeover saga sparking controversy on and off the field.

Prior to gaining control of the Whites, Cellino took the decision to part with McDermott's services, only to then see him reinstated as he did not have the authority to take such a decision.

Leeds have responded to the uncertainty surrounding the future of their manager with back-to-back victories over Huddersfield Town and Yeovil Town.

McDermott insists the drama at Leeds has only served to pull everyone closer together and is convinced that those already at the club can deliver success if they are given the freedom and support in which to do their job.

He said after a 2-1 victory at Huish Park on Saturday: "I can't affect whether I will be manager next week. I want to be Leeds United manager. That's the most important thing and I've got a real desire and hunger to be Leeds United manager and for us to be successful.

"At Reading, we won a championship. The year before we were in a play-off final. The year before, we were very low in the league and we got to eighth and two quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

"We have got a track record here and by that I am including (assistant manager) Nigel Gibbs who's just been absolute quality and a real rock in the last few days as well.

"He deserves an awful lot of credit as well. I think it has all bonded everyone together - the fans, the team and the staff - and you can see that."

ood lord that's got me unnecessarily excited. Damn you Storey. Cut to Liverpool being crushed under the wheels of Sparky's Stoke Machine and Firmino brought off the bench to no effect. It's the hope that kills you.

think he'll do quite well. My only reservation would be Kagawa, who had similar stats to Firmino in the bundesliga before he came, but time will tell.
