The 21-year-old defender will see his current deal expire at the end of the season.

He has had few opportunities in which to stake a claim for fresh terms at the Madejski Stadium, with 11 loan spells taken in since 2009.

The Royals think highly of the youngster, though, and his representative is in the process of thrashing out an agreement which suits all parties.

Hector told the Reading Post: "They are still in talks. I don't really know where it's at.

"My agent and the club are dealing with that. I'm just concentrating on my football. That's why I've got an agent.

"If I was doing it myself then I probably would be worrying about it, but that's his job and hopefully he sorts it out."

Hector returned to Reading in January from a successful loan spell at Aberdeen.

Dons boss Derek McInnes has admitted that he would be keen on bringing the centre-half back to Pittodrie if there is a deal to be done, but Hector claims his preference is to remain in England.

He said: "My goal is to stay here.

"I feel part of the set-up here. It's a great club and hopefully things can get sorted.

"I just want to be playing games. That's the main thing.

"I feel part of the squad, I feel part of the team. Everyone looks after me at the training ground and also on match days. It's good to be part of it."

R

icky van Wolfswinkel's remarkable record of one goal from one game at least deserves an honourable mention. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of Costa, Ulloa or Enner Valencia will earn a place on the list by the end of the season. Probably not Costa
