The 25-year-old's current contract runs until June and Dervite says he is enjoying his football under new Addicks boss Jose Riga.

The defender - who began his career with Lille and has also played for Tottenham and Villarreal - was handed a contract in 2012 after impressing then manager Chris Powell on trial.

Powell was sacked by chairman Roland Duch√Ętelet in March and Dervite - who scored in Tuesday's crucial 3-2 win over fellow Championship relegation strugglers Yeovil - admits he appreciates having the trust of new boss Riga.

Happy

He told the South London Press: "I talked last week with the chairman so hopefully I will be more than happy to stay here.

"I have to see a few things and then hopefully I can sign a long-term contract here.

"I was happy before and I wasn't playing as much as when the new gaffer came in but if he keeps his positive attitude then I would be more than happy to stay here.

"I am the kind of player that when I know I have got the trust of the manager then I give even more and I have always been like that since I was young and that is going well. I am happy for myself and the team."

Meanwhile, Dagenham have extended the loan of Charlton striker Ade Azeez until the end of the season.
