The 55-year-old is targeting a number of loan signings from Barclays Premier League clubs, and accepts that it may take some time before he can do business.

"The players that will be involved in the World Cup will need a break so Premier League clubs will take all their best youngsters with them on tour and keep them through pre-season," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"They will look at their young players and see if they are good enough to be involved next season, or whether they will benefit from going out on loan.

"There are definitely loan deals to be had with Premier League clubs and I don't want to miss out on some of the good, exciting talent that could be available."
