Evans, who has guided the Millers to back-to-back promotions from League Two, has made 11 signings over the summer and is giving no hint as to his preferred starting line-up for the season-opener at Derby on August 9 by splitting his squad for their pre-season campaign.

Evans sent a 16-man party to Tamworth and non-league Parkgate FC on Saturday and will do the same on Tuesday, with games at Alfreton and Stocksbridge Park Steels.

After that the Millers have games against Doncaster and Leicester, and Evans insists he will continue to rotate his squad, meaning it is all to play for in a bid to make the XI at iPro Stadium a week on Saturday.

"It's my intention to go to Doncaster on Saturday and then host Leicester next Tuesday with only first-team players but the squads will be rotated largely on 45 and 60 minutes," Evans told the club's official website.

"Fitness within the group is excellent and it's now all about match time and sharpness which we will have a big emphasis on next week."

Frazer Richardson will not feature in Tuesday's games after picking up an injury, but is expected to be back for the clash at Doncaster.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
