Charlton did not create many chances to win the game but Powell was not complaining even though his injury-hit side are just one place above the Sky Bet Championship drop zone.

"It's our first clean sheet of the season and our first at home since November," he said.

"I have been willing us to get one and it has been individual mistakes that have really cost us.

"In respect of today, another positive is that it's another point for us, especially with the players we have available.

"We are missing a number of key players but the boys who are out there are willing themselves and pushing themselves to try to get us wins and points."

The Blackpool draw followed a 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

"I have got to say we have played two of the top six with arguably a weaker squad because of injuries and they have managed to get two really positive draws," Powell added.

"Obviously we are in the business to win games but looking at it I have got to take the positives as 1-1 against Forest and 0-0 against Blackpool has arrested the three defeats we had previously and we can now do our best to build on that.

"That's the only bonus from the international break, that the boys can recover and the injured boys can hopefully make themselves available for the upcoming games."

Blackpool are sitting pretty in sixth but assistant manager Steve Thompson admitted it had not been an afternoon to savour, especially as Tom Ince, son of manager Paul, missed a decent chance to win it late on.

"A goal could have changed the game - it was what it needed," he said.

"We just needed that bit of quality in the final third and that's what the game was lacking.

"From set plays we were trying to get it in the box but we couldn't find our strikers and it just ended up as two teams cancelling each other out.

"We had chances - we had the one with Thomas at the end which fell to him on his right peg - but there was a lot of huff and puff in the final third but not a lot of quality.

"It was a run-of-the-mill game, wasn't it? It needed a goal to liven it up.

"The pleasing thing is that we've kept another clean sheet. We will go into the international break and it gives us a chance to get the squad players up to speed. Hopefully the international lads will come back injury free.

"We have got two weeks now where we can hopefully get some games arranged to get the fringe players up to speed and get 90 minutes working with them. We are pleased with where we are and hopefully we can keep where we want to be."
