The Frenchman, who has scored three goals this season, suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury which had previously kept him out for a month during Sunday's goalless draw with Wigan.

"We lost Yann again but hopefully it's not as bad as last time. It doesn't seem like it is," said manager Chris Powell.

"We'll have to give it 48 hours to let the swelling go down. He said it doesn't feel as bad as last time so let's hope he will be available sooner rather than later.

"He was ready to come back but he just landed awkwardly. It's a shame, he's a key player for us as everyone knows.

"He's a quality player, a good link-up player, he sees passes and flick-ons, he's technically very adept and defensively he helps us. He's made himself a bit of a cult hero with our fans and he takes the free-kicks and penalties.

"With us not spending loads of money I got him on a free and he's turned into a key player for us."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
