The 26-year-old was sent for an X-ray after falling awkwardly during the warm-up prior to Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Doncaster at The Valley.

The scan has shown only minor ligament damage but Hamer still faces a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

That means Ben Alnwick, who was drafted in for his debut against Rovers, will keep his place for Saturday's visit of Ipswich while boss Chris Powell may have to recall youngster Nick Pope from his loan at York as cover on the bench.

Hamer wrote on Twitter: "X-ray was fine folks just a bit of ligament damage hope to be fit again in the next couple weeks!"
