Backing Sturridge At 5s Against Baggies

That price is way too big, says our man Degsy. He's also backing Aston Villa to beat Everton to nil, Adnan Januzaj to open the scoring against Stoke and Sunderland to win...

Newcastle v Sunderland
The Toon are still reeling from the departure of Yohan Cabaye and with Loic Remy suspended and bitter rivals Sunderland on a roll, this could get ugly for the Mags. Newcastle are leaking goals at home while the Black Cats are unbeaten in their last five PL away games. *Affects crazy Norwegian twang* Jimmy Nail, Cheryl Cole, Ant n Dec...your boys could take a helluva beating.
Betting: Sunderland to beat Newcastle at 100/30 (Ladbrokes/Sky Bet)

West Ham v Swansea
Yes, the Hammers made their point against Chelsea in the week and in the presser afterwards, Big Sam was the epitome of overweight, middle-aged content. But what happened to the West Ham way? Bobby Moore would surely have been turning in his grave to see just how desperate his side have become. They didn't just park the bus; they set fire to it and threw burning tyres at anyone within 30 yards of their goal. Am I bitter? Of course I f*cking am given I inexplicably threw Chelsea into a midweek four-fold paying £320. At 1/5. This country.
Betting: Under 1.5 goals at 5/2 (Betfred/Bet Victor)

Cardiff City v Norwich City
I'm sick of two things on the drive home from work.

1 - The bumper-to-bumper traffic on the A19 (think that Everybody Hurts REM video just with miles more frost and smog).

2 - Hearing depressed Norwich fans on Talksport lamenting the fact that Chris Hughton is a massive throbber and that the Canaries are doomed. That said, they are struggling, especially for goals, and I fancy those backing Cardiff winning to nil here should do very nicely.
Betting: Cardiff to win to nil at 14/5 (Ladbrokes)

Everton v Aston Villa
Everton look shockingly short here. Battered 4-0 by Liverpool in the week in a game that saw them lose their talisman Romelu Lukaku to injury, I think they will struggle against a Villa side who have lost on none of their last seven visits to Goodison. The Toffees are 4/9 in places and you would have to be a crack-smoking, dog-molesting social deviant to even consider getting involved at said odds. Me? I'm going to chance my arm backing Villa to win to nil at a whopping 14/1.
Betting: Aston Villa to win to nil at 14/1 (Coral)

Fulham v Southampton
Fulham gave been pony at home. The Saints have been pony away. So you pays your money and takes your choice. There is quite a bit at stake here so a drab low scoring affair wouldn't surprise this gnarled old punting maverick.
Betting: Both teams to score - No at 5/4 (Coral)

Hull City v Tottenham
Spurs are 11/10 to bounce back from their 5-1 midweek mauling at the hands of Man City and that looks a great price considering how they have performed away from home this season. Sh*t, they have won their last five Premier League away games while Hull are being sucked into the relegation argument after a fine start to the season. The advice here is make Tim Sherwood's men the cornerstone of any sel- respecting acca this weekend.
Betting: Tottenham to win at 11/10 (Bet Victor)

Stoke City v Manchester United
Stoke are in the midst of a horrible run and with Juan Mata now pulling the strings in midfield, look for the Red Devils to get it done here. Adnan Januzaj is 15/2 to score first and if you whack a score on that and it obliges, you could dine out at Nando's for a week. Literally.
Betting: Januzaj to score first at 15/2 (bet365/Sky Bet)

West Brom v Liverpool
Every football expert in the country has been touching themselves inappropriately over Luis Suarez this season and rightly so given the stats. However let's not forget that Daniel Sturridge is bang on fire as well at present. His long-range lob against Everton in the week was a goal of exquisite beauty and with six goals in his last five matches I reckon he's the shout here at 5s to score first.
Betting: Sturridge to score first at 5/1 (Coral)

Arsenal v Crystal Palace
You cannot speak highly enough about what Tony Pulis is doing at Palace. He took over a side that looked dead in the relegation water and is leading them (heroically whilst wearing a rubbish baseball cap) towards the serenity of mid-table. That said I have a hunch Arsenal may well go town town on the Eagles here and the more I see of young Serge Gnabry the more I like. Fast, powerful, direct..and too big at 9s to open the scoring here.
Betting: Gnabry to score first at 9/1 (Ladbrokes/Paddy Power)

Degsy Bilton

Thank you Degsy. I won £26 from backing Forest and Dortmund during the week, and after reading your article I decided to put my knackers on the chopping block and go big with all £26 on Sunderland to do the Magpies. I bottled it thought and had to cash out for £90 rather than holding on for £104 as Newcastle are starting to show signs of life as we speak. Still, big win for the weekend, cheers mate.

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

Please Stop Telling Us What To Think

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
