Chelsea take on United in the first big showdown of the new season aiming to put down a marker for the rest of the season.

Mourinho has stoked the fires ahead of the clash by claiming United only won the Premier League title last season because their rivals were so poor.

However, Evans is adamant that the United squad don't pay much attention to Mourinho's comments and that his attempts to unsettle the players will not work.

"It's all just mind games, really. It's maybe his way of trying to unsettle us," said Evans.

"We don't read too much into that kind of thing and, as players, we laugh that kind of thing off."

Chelsea have won their opening two games of the season, but Evans doubts whether Mourinho will be as successful this time around as he was during his first spell in charge of Chelsea.

"Everyone is saying that now Chelsea have Mourinho back, it will make a big difference to them but we will have to wait and see whether that will be the case.

"I am sure he will have an impact but we might have to wait a month or two before you realise who is going to be challenging for the title.

"Mourinho had that spell at Chelsea when he gave his players a lot of confidence but it remains to be seen whether he can have that impact again."

Evans believes the title race is wide open this season feeling big-spending Tottenham can challenge United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

"It's not just us three," continued Evans. "There are other teams around who can have a big impact on the league and, you never know, another team could surprise us.

"There's a lot of competition out there and every team has a lot of quality. Spurs have spent a lot of money, so it's going to be a good, open season."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
