Mourinho believes that Chelsea played some 'fantastic' football in the 4-3 win and even refused to criticise their defending, despite Sunderland scoring three times.

"It was by far our best performance away from home," he told Sky Sports.

"We played fantastic football. We created, we were dynamic, we had someone special in Hazard, and Mata and Willian played a fantastic match.

"We played very well defensively and had no problems and controlled, and we conceded three ridiculous goals, and when you play well and score four goals you have to win, but we were in trouble right to the end.

"You can concede one but to concede three, that is a negative thing from such a great performance.

"It is very difficult to play like we did and score so many goals, that is difficult, and I cannot even blame the defensive play of the team, but the set-pieces and a rebound here and off the last man there, and we concede three goals which you can't do but the performance was excellent collectively and individually."

Mourinho did reserve special praise for the match winner Hazard, who scored a goal in each half.

"I don't like to praise individually but Eden from the first minute was amazing," he said.
