The summer signing from Vitesse Arnhem was injured during the Capital One Cup third-round victory over Swindon Town in September, and was expected to be out for the season - but has made an unexpectedly quick recovery.

The Dutch international also spoke out about his desire to try and play enough games in order to force his way back into Louis van Gaal's World Cup squad.

Van Ginkel told the London Evening Standard: "The surgeon had rarely seen such a speedy recovery. Together with the fact that I was physically fit as a fiddle, this has ensured that I am now so well.

"Now I can already change direction, reverse, cut, turn and shoot. Actually, I can do anything.

"The World Cup would be a bonus, because I am only focused on my recovery. My main goal is to get fully match fit again. And if that works in the short term, you never know what can result."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
