Kakuta has spent little time at Stamford Bridge in recent years, with the Blues loaning him out to a variety of clubs, and his latest temporary spell will be in Serie A.

The versatile 22-year-old returned from a season-and-a-half stint with Vitesse Arnhem in December and has also been loaned out to French club Dijon, Fulham and Bolton during an unsettled stay at west London.

Kakuta has made just 16 appearances for Chelsea's first-team and will be hoping for more regular first-team action with Lazio.
