Sky Sports revealed that Rotherham had made a fresh bid for the 23-year-old, but they have pushed through a loan move to enable him to play against Watford on Tuesday.

After their match with the Hornets, they will then look to finalise his permanent signature with the deal expected to go through within the next 48 hours.

Sky Sports understands that Smallwood's departure could see Boro return to a deal for Chelsea's George Saville.

But the Saville deal is believed to be permanent, unlike the loan deals Boro are hoping to finalise for his team-mates Patrick Bamford and Lewis Baker, and the one already done for Kenneth Omeruo.

enteke is an absolute steal for £32.5m, he would get into any team in the world (except Barcelona) at the moment. I've seen many very good strikers in my 30+ years as a Villa fan. This guy is the best without question.
