Speroni's current deal expires at the end of the month and it was feared he might leave Selhurst Park.

Speroni played a key role in helping Palace secure Premier League safety last season and was named the club's Player of the Year.

A number of Premier League clubs were thought to be tracking Speroni, but the Argentine is close to agreeing a new contract.

Speroni is expected to sign a one-year deal at Palace and the news is a massive boost for Eagles boss Tony Pulis as he plans for next season.
