Clough saw his side win for the first time in nine games prior to the international break and wants them to build on that 2-1 home victory over Leicester when they resume league action against bottom club Bristol City at Pride Park on Friday night.

Clough, whose team go into the match 13th in the standings, told reporters: "We want to finish the season on a high. Top half was realistic - if we could keep everybody fit - and we would love to do that. That is our aim and we are capable of doing it.

"For everyone, especially the supporters, we don't want to be scraping over the line. So, we will crack on and go for it in the last eight games.

"It was lovely to go into the international break on the back of a win but it is important we pick things up again against Bristol City.

"We are six points off the bottom three, so the first task is to make sure we don't get involved in that. Beating Bristol City would go a long way to doing that."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
