American Doyle, who last week signed a new one-year contract with the Rams, is back in the US to top up his fitness levels during the close season in England.

A link up across the Atlantic last season saw four Rapids players - Martin Rivero, Chris Klute, Tony Cascio and Andre Akpan - spend a week with Derby and feature in a behind-closed-doors game against Notts County.

Former Rams commercial director Tim Hinchey is president of the Rapids, he told the club's official website, coloradorapids.com: "Conor Doyle's reciprocal training visit is part of our partnership with Derby County.

"We have a great relationship and respect for Derby manager Nigel Clough and his staff, and we are are looking forward to providing Conor the same opportunities that Derby showed our players during our off-season."

Doyle is expected to be a part of the Rams' Under-21 squad next season while Clough also plans to send the US youth international out on loan to gain first-team experience.
