The Rams were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at home to East Midlands rivals Leicester on Saturday, with goalkeeper Lee Grant's unlucky own goal the difference between the two sides.

With two league games away at Yeovil and at home to Burnley, as well as a Capital One Cup tie against Brentford at Pride Park sandwiched inbetween, Clough sees the next three matches as an important phase of their campaign.

The Derby boss is confident that his team can take last weekend's disappointment on the chin and bounce back.

"We were all hurting on Saturday; it was a frustrating feeling to lose for the first time this season in the circumstances we did," Clough told the club's official website.

"We played quite well and created a few chances but it wasn't our day on that front. It was a typical Championship game, it could have gone either way and we felt the rub of the green wasn't quite in our favour. But we have to go again now, we can only affect what happens in the future and we have three very important games coming up.

"We showed last season we were good at reacting to defeats by losing back-to-back games just four times, and never three times. It's all about how we respond now; we can't let that disappointment bring a negative feeling around the place.

"We've got three games coming up before the first international break of the season and we want to sign off for the break on a high, so they're important games for us.

"There will be occasions this season where we will play far worse than we did against Leicester and win the game, that's the way it goes sometimes.

"That said, we are great believers in putting in good performances and the results will come - and that's been our key message to the players.

"We've played well in all four of our games so far this season, and during pre-season too, so we're happy with what we've seen but know there's a bit more to come too."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
