The 22-year-old midfielder's initial loan spell was due to end on January 6 but he will now stay at Rodney Parade for the remainder of the campaign.

A statement on Newport's website read: "This is great news for all concerned and Tom has been an integral part of the County squad since the beginning of the season.

"Only Adam Chapman, Conor Washington and Robbie Willmott have made more league appearances for Newport County AFC this season.

"Indeed, with 20 league and seven cup matches under his belt and one goal, Tom hopes to continue the good progress made by the club on their return to the Football League."
