Bennett featured in five of Crawley's six games during his month-long stay with the League One side.

Reds boss Richie Barker was keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old but an extension could not be agreed between the clubs.

"At the moment it won't be renewed," Barker told the West Sussex County Times.

"There's always a possibility (it could be extended). I thought he started his loan extremely well, he hasn't quite kicked on in the way we would of hoped but he's not played a great deal of football which is why we're looking to extend it."
