However, the club are optimistic the problem is not too serious after the midfielder was replaced by Martin Woods at half-time during the 1-1 draw at St Andrew's on Tuesday night.

Wellens was taken off as a precautionary measure after feeling his back and thighs tighten.

He will be assessed by Rovers' medial team ahead of Saturday's game at Bolton.

The 33-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Doncaster since rejoining the South Yorkshire club in the summer.
