Paul Dickov: Contender for Sheffield Wednesday job

Dickov is widely regarded as one of the best young managers in the country and he has impressed already during his short time in charge of Doncaster Rovers.

The Scot has guided Rovers to 15th spot in the Championship and has helped mastermind impressive victories over promotion hopefuls Leicester and Queens Park Rangers this term.

Dickov has been able to achieve these results, despite operating on one of the lowest budgets in the Championship.

The former Oldham chief, who helped his old side to a famous FA Cup win over Liverpool last season, has helped Doncaster establish a reputation as one of the most attractive sides in the Championship with his attacking style of play.

Dickov's progress at the Keepmoat Stadium has not gone unnoticed with the former Arsenal striker thought to have admirers at Sheffield Wednesday as they continue their search for a replacement for Dave Jones

Doncaster value Dickov highly, but could find themselves vulnerable to approaches for 41-year-old with the Scot believed to be not tied down to a long-term contract.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
