Dougie Freedman: Praised his side's teamwork

First half goals from Joe Mason and Andre Moritz put Wanderers in complete control before a late strike from Neil Danns added the icing to the cake.

The result sees the Trotters leapfrog above Rovers in the table and Freedman believes his team can climb further if they start to be more consistent.

Freedman said: "I'm excited at how we bounced back. You need that in this division because there are a lot of games that come thick and fast and there are a lot of good teams.

"It's a credit to the lads and how they've stuck together. We worked as a whole team and we saw a Bolton team at their best today.

"We sent the fans home happy today as well and the fans and the players stuck together well and everything came off right for us in the end.

"I think the big challenge for me is getting some consistency. Once we start to do that then we'll move up this league quickly."

Freedman reserved particular praise for Moritz, who he signed from former club Crystal Palace in the summer.

He added "I feel a bit disappointed for the fans because they haven't been able to see him play enough.

"He's had a couple of injuries and a few knocks but today I thought that he was just outstanding. His link up play between the midfield and the strikers was just superb."

Doncaster manager Paul Dickov believes player fatigue is what cost his side the result.

However, despite admitting Rovers were second best, Dickov thought that may not have been the same game if Bongani Khumalo's header had opened the scoring instead of hitting the post.

Dickov said: "It's a defining moment in the game and if that had gone in then it could have been different.

"But I certainly don't feel that we should have won the game. Even at that point when we hit the post, Bolton were by far the better of the two teams.

"I felt that we just looked a little leggy today having played a lot of games in quick succession.

"It looked at times after half-time that we were only playing in one half of the pitch because we couldn't get out of our own area. Five games in 14 days I feel just caught up with us there at the end.

"We did come here with a lot of confidence because we have done well in recent weeks. Maybe it is a case of having such a small group of players.

"It looked as though if it did make a massive difference today because they've made five changes to their team today and we were just a little bit off it."

e'll be fine, no problem. If they do get relegated, he's definitely going to ask how anyone could ever have thought that Villa were going to be fine given their problems before he came.

toke though. Hmn. I don't think it was defending that made people dislike Stoke so much as the out and out cheating/nastiness they regularly displayed. That, and they kept buying the odd flair player and then ruining them (Oh! Tuncay, what were you thinking?).

ell that really inspires me with confidence. No point in training, deciding on a coherent formation, or playing players in their best positions, let's just hope we get lucky.
