The 21-year old has caught the eye since bursting onto the scene at Tannadice Park, claiming the Scotland U21s captain's armband on the back of his displays.
Armstrong has seen former team-mate Johnny Russell establish himself in England with Derby County - but he insists he is happy to continue with Jackie McNamara's side
"I'm very comfortable staying here," Armstrong told the Sunday Mail.
"Johnny was playing first-team football for a number of years and earned that move to Derby.
"I just want to play week in week out and prove I'm good enough to play for Dundee United, let alone anyone else.
"It's nice to hear compliments when people are watching you but the timing has to be right. Players can go down south and not get a regular game.
"It's my ambition to play at the highest level and England would be a good move, but I have to prove myself here first.
"Having the games in your locker is a huge advantage. I remember being frustrated here when I was spending a lot of time on the bench."
