The Dons are currently leading the pack which includes Motherwell and Dundee United, who they play this weekend at Pittodrie.

United and Aberdeen also have a realistic chance of winning the Scottish Cup this season, and Jackie McNamara's team have won eight of their last nine games.

"There is a lot of football still to be played," said McInnes.

"We have got 24 points to play for and we have said all along we will finish where we deserve to finish.

"We feel if we can continue to show the form we have shown up to now we will be there or thereabouts.

"There's some good teams round about us so there is still a lot to play for but there's still a lot to miss out on."

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
