FIFA have confirmed goal-line technology will be in place for the 2014 World Cup, and have invited tenders to provide the system.

@triangler. As my first post states, the ball crossing the line is not a questionable decision. It either did or didnt. Its Black or white. Questionable decisions are great and subjective referee calls will always have us talking afterwards. In my opinion, GLT is where the technology should start and stop. Technology is never going to replace a referee purely for the fact that we can all look at decisions, from every angle, in slow mo and STILL cannot defintiveley all agree on every decision - The Rooney recent penalty claim as an example. GLT however will be easy to agree on!

@Triangler Gonna have to respectfully disagree. Unless we replace the players and referees with robots then surely the game will still retain a human element? Mistakes will be made by both, players will get injured, and people will try to cheat like they always have. I don't think there are any real negatives to GLT, if the ball passes the line it should be a goal just like the rulebook states.

@Triangler - I want matches to be decided by those that score the most goals. Doesn't matter who is the best team, whoever scores the most goals should win. In the incidents like Lampard in 2010 and Hurst in 66 the mistake was not a 'bad decision', but a travesty for the sides on the other end of it. You still have red cards and penalties for questionable decisisions. Whether the ball has crossed the line or not is NOT THE REFEREE'S JUDGEMENT TO MAKE. It is a stone cold fact that is sometimes not seen.

Geoff Hurst will be turning in his grave. If he'd dead. Is he dead? People who advocate GLT have (in general) lost sight of the human element of sport. What's sport without a bad decision or two to talk about? Who cares if some billionaire loses money because his team lost? Ok, we all want the best team to win but how many questionable decisions are the ones we talk about ten, twenty, fifty years later? Do we really want to lose those?

Id prefer not to have it. I like the human error part of the game and the debates it brings with it, not so much when it goes against my team obviously but swings and roundabouts...

ill start the tedious debate..... I dont see a reason not to have GLT. Unlike other decisions (fouls, handballs),whether the ball is over the line or not is black and white. There is no referee subjectivity. If it can report within seconds then it must come in. About time!!
