The powerful Belgian forward has linked up with the Toffees after taking the decision to spend another campaign away from parent employers Chelsea.

A productive spell at West Bromwich Albion last season brought 17 goals and an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Bettering that return is now the target for Lukaku, who had been tipped to make his mark at Stamford Bridge in 2013/14.

He believes Everton will provide the perfect platform for his talents, with it important for him to keep raising his level of performance.

Lukaku told evertontv: "Still I can improve and that's why I came here - because it's a big club and a team who play at the top of the league.

"For me, it's the next step I need, so I have to settle in as quickly as I can and set better standards then I did last year.

"I will work for it and you have to be confident in your abilities, because you always have to improve."

On his ambitions for the season ahead, the 20-year-old frontman added: "As a striker you have to keep yourself to your task and that's scoring goals, but my target is personal.

"Hopefully it will go right this season but you have to think for the team as well. I need to help the team to where they need to be and that's as close as possible or even in the top six.

"I'm here to help and hopefully it will be with a lot of goals too."

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
