m curious as to what image Real Madrid are trying to re-establish as I always thought their pre-Jose image was one of a bunch of a classless bullies tapping up whoever they wanted while living it large on borrowed money they're never going to pay back.
t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.
aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.

Nobody wants to sign for Arsenal regardless of how much money they have. This will lead to a continued decline until they change course in some way. This is sad to see - Arsenal were a great team.

littler_dutch - I don't think anyone is saying we were far superior (other than some of the more reactionary press), just that we were far more effective both in defence and attack.

http://news.arseblog.com/2013/03/sprs-2-1-arsenal-by-the-numbers/ This is a good piece looking at the numbers from the game. Somewhat cools the accepted line that Spurs were far superior, but makes worrying reading in any case because it shows again how little teams actually have to do to beat us.

@dwh...yep, and I rmbr one instance when they were contesting for the same high ball in spurs' D-box instead of one contesting for it and the other one anticipating / fighting for the second ball. It is needless to say who has to do what based on their aerial capabilities. It was also ridiculous to see Giroud fighting spurs midfielders (not that he shouldn't) to regain possession while Walnuts loitering in their D-box. And when we had the ball, he neither made any runs beyond their defenders nor hugged the bylines to stretch their back four (and he was playing on the right berth of our attacking trio!!!). Further more, he's of little use when the crosses are flying in, he simply can't contest with PL defenders in aerial front. While in the other hand, Giroud could have been of greater use and he does win them headers (although he has to work on his conversion, he does contest pretty good). So, not only Walnuts offer little to nothing when defences sit back on him and negate his only arsenal - his speed, he in fact disturbs our own attacking plays by occupying spaces of the main striker and being at the wrong place at the wrong time. But we cannot really blame him 100% for his tactical ineptness, 'cuz Wenger himself isn't known for his tactical ingenuity. Is it just me that feels his purple patch coincided during his contract negotiation and now that he has got what he wants, he's back to his normal irritating best?

There used to be a time where I would have a nervous tingling feeling before a big game for arsenal. That's now replaced with a sense of inevitability, the wrong kind. Collectively arsenal were very poor and the blame has to firmly rest with wenger. He somehow manages to transfer his sense of delusion onto his team, makes wilshere think he's good enough to be a world beater, makes Walcott think he can be a clinical finisher, makes Ramsey think he can be a league two footballer and makes PM think that the tortoise beating the hare is actually a true story. But the worst spell he has cast on the board, making them think all is well.

Anyone see Sol Campbell on the TV last night? He seemed to genuinly to be struggling with complex requirement of "Sitting" and "Talking" at the same time.. Although he did point out some good points regarding Walcott. Theo in fairness made many of the successful Bale/Lennon runs, but just never got the pass... Perhaps Jack is not the messiah after all... or simply that Ramsey is rubbish !

Anyone notice the note that AVB sent Defoe out with? What was on it? A diagram of where the Arsenal back four thought they were and the reality? An I.O.U. from Vertonghen to Vermalen perhaps? Or was it 'how to tell when you're offside'? Maybe it was a note to Bale saying 'never mind the hearts where was my hug when you scored'?

Well done Spurs by the way, thought they did well and have deserved it this year in general. Glad they've got there under someone who seems like a genuinely decent guy, instead of the "mates rates" desperation of Redknapp. Add a decent striker to help Defoe and they'll be well interesting. A title challenge should be the next target, and then they really will be reminding me of Arsenal class of 97/98. Of all the "woe" built around Arsenal, I find most of it pretty unlikely - instead of choosing to applaud a club keeping its financial status in the UK, the papers take the long route of claiming its greed by the owners not to sell (surely they'd make more from Russian billions) - and instead of remarking that Wenger has built a stadium for the entire next century & a top four team for nearly a decade, we're meant to demand every year must have a trophy as well. People have different opinions, but for me the only demand is that every year we have a football club that I can watch. Trophies are a joy if they happen, when they are an tantrum fueling expectation, you've sacrificed all that is good about the sport for point scoring off strangers. That's just not for me.

Kevin - Come on be fair, singing about Wenger being a paedo, Kevin Webster being his son and Jimmy Savile his dad, is pretty poor taste. Everyone has their mindless minority, and if I was to ask which team has the vilest chants, I wouldn't exactly have Arsenal at the top of my list.

I din't realise those songs were sung about Adebayor but using it as a stick to beat Arsenal fans is pointless as it is nothing to do with who they support, some people are just bloody horrible. Arsenal fans tend to be a decent sort of bunch from my experience. Very happy with the result anyway =)
