Arsenal Shouldn't Be Happy With 'Nearly'

Some will praise Arsenal for beating Bayern Munich, but Nick Miller doesn't think they should receive too much credit for almost going through. That's how you become a nearly team...

Hope this page stays up for a while longer, a few people might well end up looking rather silly. Four points behind Tottenham, who were having a great season when this article was written, apparently, with a game in hand, and with Tottenham and Chelsea still to meet, it could get interesting......

wozza you here to contribute intelligently or like a ten yearold ? And i dont value you or your team or your players or your manager or your fans high enough to welcome your credit. Try and focus how to not throw tantrums when down in ten men. A strategy youd expect a club of united's stature to be comfortable with and focusing on their lead instead of losing it...but what can you do when the first to lose it is the leader/manager........ not much really other than clapping like a clown....

Will someone just design the 'Emirates Trophy For Fourth Place' already so we can actually give em somethin. Somethin tangible. That'd be nice for the gooners. Good result but who gives a flying squirrels fart? No one will look back on it and say 'Bloodyell that was a spectacular performance from Wengers Braves' and make a DVD about it. It'll be forgotten in the midst of another disappointing season. We'll give you credit when it is due, it''s not due this season sorry.

kozzer - spot on, anyone who tries to play down an excellent performance and result against a team who was clearly trying, if understrength, has an agenda and can't be trusted to give a fair opinion. An English team wins in Munich for the first time in 20 years and people are trying to put a negative spin on it? Those people would be better admitting they were wrong about how bad the team were. In the meantime, Tottenham go through on away goals and, with a harder end to season, who's to say they are better now. A twang of a tendon by Bale, and they will be in big trouble.

I wouldnt think they are happy with nearly. I have not heard or read anything from anyone saying they were. What I heard and I can see why, is that they were happy with the win and the performance. Surely anyone who ever even played 5 a side can understand that

tk421 ... How about the english journalists stop pretending they are at a level to critisise the management of Arsene Wenger, or Fabio Capello, or Rafael Benitez or even Sven Goran Errikson. If you can not see the systematic misrepresentation of foreign coaches dont blame others for pointing it out. And who cares what you or the journalist THINKS about Arsenal? They aint paid to offer their thoughts on anything..they are paid to register the facts and events as they occured with integrity impartiality and independance...their thoughts they can keep to themselves...unless they have an agenda to channel the way people should think about Arsenal .....or any other non-brittish influence. Maybe you should travel abroad a bit and then laugh your heart out at the nationalism of the english media when it comes to commenting on football...... i understand pride but i dont understand bigotry.....

I apologise on behalf of my whole club and fan base for daring to be happy that we won a tough game while also being relieved that we didn't get the spanking you all thought we would. I'm terrible sorry from the bottom of my heart for daring to try and see some positives in a game everyone gave us no chance in. From now on we shall all make sure we slag off our team at every given opportunity. Sorry again. Yours sincerely. A. Gooner.
