Sven - I get your point and I admit I have to agree with you on the contract issue. But regards the results I don´t see too many big mistakes. Everybody does do mistakes even the so great Sir Alex. Therefore I don´t get the anger over not winning a cup or reaching a final. But okay, easy speaking for me as I am not a supporter.

If you're having a good start to the season, draw Leeds away in the league cup and then put half a team out then you get what you deserve. I take your point, Steve, but I'm not asking for a Middlesbrough 1997 season here, just something like Liverpool had last time out where their final position was low for them but they had one cup and another final to show for it. At the end of the day if you're talking about attracting players for a better team - we finished above Liverpool last season but they're the ones who qualified for Europe.

The best way to win a cup is to prioritise the league. No, really. If you get consistently-high league finishes, you attract a lot more money and have a better team; hence more chance (in the long run) of winning a cup. Conversely, if you prioritise winning a cup you probably still won't, but your team's fortunes will suffer from the way your league performance has been compromised.

ganachus - I will happily thank him for the memories and wish him good luck. I'd be more annoyed if he stayed now because it feels like we are his safety net and thats not a particularly dignified position for a club that made Moyes as much as Moyes has made Everton. You will find nothing in anything that I've said about entitlement to a trophy, more that Moyes either bottles the big games or puts out weakened teams and pays the price (Liverpool semi last season, Leeds league cup this, for respective examples). Whether I would do the same as Moyes in his shoes isn't the issue - I support Everton, not David Moyes and what hes doing currently gives the impression (helped by a chairman who sees no wrong in anything Moyes does) that we are some little side who are very lucky to have him. Hes just as lucky to have us (see above chairman comment) and its about time he showed the fans and the club a bit more respect. Or I'm completely wrong - we're Charlton and I should shut up. Either way really.

Think this article is spot on. I understand Everton fan's gripes about him "stringing the club along", as if waiting for a bigger team to snap him up, but wouldn't you do the same in his shoes? He has been loyal to the club for over 11 years, provided some good football and some consistently high finishes given the resources he has been provided with. Maybe it would have been nice for him to pick up a trophy now and then (as would we all love to see some silverware :P), but Everton don't have any divine right to win silverware, neither do Arsenal, Tottenham etc.Give him some time to look at his options, see what is best for him, and if he goes to pastures new, then thank him for the memories and pray that you bring in a manager who is capable of doing better.

Nanouk - Its not about regularly, its about at all. Moyes consistently prioritises the league over the cups (not that that was even an excuse for last week). If you have one of the 6-8 best teams in the country why wouldn't you try to win the league cup? - even if it meant the difference between finishing 6th and 10th then most Everton fans I know would still be delighted. Ted Maul - if anything I'm even angrier than I was last week. At no point did I think we'd do anything but beat City because it means far less to the most fans than the Wigan game, but seemingly more to the manager. matthewreynolds - No. Just no. For Everton and Moyes read Everton and Moyes. We love him but hes playing the club and the fans for fools stringing us along over his contract as if hes got the cream of Europe chasing him. And making noises that if we do well he'll might stay. I couldn't care less any more. Now, who wants to place a bet on the result of Everton vs Stoke next week? (hint: it will be 1-1)

Sometimes I wonder what perspective some people have. Everton haven´t won silverware so Moyes has to go..... Has anybody thought about this properly? Does really everybody expect that they should be winning something regularly? Everton have finished high up in the table regularly now please look at the teams that usually finish above them. I don´t think Everton are doing to bad comparing with those teams. Everything is relative and I admit I am surprised how the world is changing to only the winner counts and everything else is "useless".

For Everton and Moyes, read Charlton and Curbishley. I think a certain F365 writer would bite your hand off for a bit of upper mid table action.
