Atletico Left Décimated By Cruel Real Blow

Atletico came within seconds of an unthinkable double, but football again reminded us of its wonderful ability to turn joy to despair in a matter of moments...

Ummmm no. Whilst I agree it's not a good example, Hamlet never changes. Granted if you've never seen it then it's new but once you've seen it only the actors change. 'Pool V Man U will be different every time, (sometimes even with the same scoreline).

Gab , you obviously have no idea about football; atletico don't play cynical football.Anyone who knows them, and I do, knows that. They play football, hard, defended because their best two players were out injured for the final whereas Real only lost the kicker Alonso.Any small team would do the same. Now, you watch some football, learn about it and stop watching Nike and Adidas adverts. There is a reason why most people were in Atletico's favour. And note, this was the first Atletico defeat of the Champions league this season..

That Hamlet quote is stupid. It only works because he's seen Hamlet before. Unless you've seen the play before, theatre does, in fact, work the same as football.

Cristiano Ronaldo used to play for Manchester United. That explains the comments to date.

I've noticed football journalism is sensational crap about narratives:Bale, Ronaldo, the coaches, etc. All plaudits should go to Di Maria. The run won the game for Real, and Bale tapped it in. Di Maria should be feted on all the sites for breaking Atletico but we're just going to get more Bale though my grandma could have scored that goal, or Ronaldo despite the fact that he did almost nothing all game

If teams really are in their manager's image, than it is great that Real Madrid beat Athletico. It certainly seemed that way, with only one team apparently wanting to play football and the other resorting to cynical fouls and then the manager showing what a class act he is. Their supporters have shown their true colours on many occasions, so financial disadvantage or not, I was happy to see them brought crashing down to earth at the end. yossarian_lives- Well, you either haven't been watching at the right times or you don't know what you are talking about. Tottenham could only dream about having a player like that as he is still a cut above Bale.

Where the hell did 5 minutes of injury come from? Should have been no more than 2 or 3 minutes at the most.

happy for ancelotti and xabi, the rest of that shower can do one. Was routing for atleti because of the ridiculous financial advantage real have over them, even if they are a shamelessly cynical team.

Seriously, every single time I've seen ronaldo play in the last 3 years , all he does is stand in one police the entire game and waste every single free kick by blasting into the wall after his usual theatrical intense look. (fair enough he tried something different for one free kick and hit the target in this game). why this guy is voted best in the world ill never understand

e made his power play to try and get Sheikhy to raise his wages or trade him to PSG. PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
