Despite cruising to a 3-0 win against Peru, England didn't show a great deal to support Matt Stanger's view that they'll get out of the group. He's waiting to judge Wayne Rooney...

"Welbeck was an excellent option for England on the counter-attack but was guilty of losing the ball too cheaply on several occasions." And that, right there, perfectly sums up Welbeck. He's quick and he works hard but it's the end product - whether it's a pass, cross or a shot - that is almost always lacking. The only time Welbeck looks vaguely useful as an attacker is when he doesn't have any time to think and uses his instincts, but you can't rely on that, he must improve when he has more time on the ball. His all round game is fine, it's the specific demands of his position which are severely lacking.

Where has this supposed lack of pace for Jagielka come from? As a season ticket holder, I have seen him play for 7 years now and his pace is one of his strongest factors (the only time he got done for pace was when Suarez scored the 4th at Anfield but he was injured all game ¿ hamstring injury that ultimately kept him out for 3 months in the end ¿ and that¿s why that happened). That, his reading of the game and tacking make him the player he is. His weakness is on the ball and distribution.. although since Moyes has gone that hoof he always used to do has gone a bit. Seems the press have it massively in for him¿ what has he ever done wrong at international level?

Really odd, given how weak we are at right-back, that Nathaniel Clyne wasn't even picked as a back up. He's been fantastic for two seasons, and yet Flanagan somehow got the nod instead.

I thought it's a bit odd how you left out how many time Johnson lost possession. Looks shaky and a liability. Not to mention Rooney and his first touch.

Welbeck, awful. Why play him when we could use Sterling, even Milner would offer more in my opinion.

Surprised at the evaluation of Johnson. Thought he was notably poor throughout and worse when he moved to left back. True, there's no competition immediately, hopefully Jones will get a start in the next match thoug. This is biased of course, but Carl Jenkinson could have been a shout for back up.
