It's Not Just The Accent...

...that makes Rickie Lambert a good fit at Liverpool, says Adam Bate. He clearly does offer a Plan B but he's good enough to fit in with the Plan A too. It's sound...

I always thought he would have been a good fit at Arsenal. Good luck to him but not too much.

The ultimate United forward line of my time was Yorke/Cole/Solskjaer/Sheringham. With that in mind I see Lambert as a modern equivalent of a late 90's Sheringham, but with added beef, more than just a big man, excellent in build up play, dropping deep and playing others through. I'm jealous, really jealous!

I think Sir Rickie will be a great fit for Liverpool. They play a very similar fast and high style to Saints, and he's already proved himself adept in that environment. Of course he's not going in to replace Suarez, as I've seen wailed; that's an absurd notion. But don't just look at the type of goals he scores. Look at his his tireless movement, his football intelligence, his great touch (note: without the caveat 'for a big man'), his beautiful eye for a defence-splitting pass. He's a highly skilled team player and Liverpool have got a bargain IMO.
