F365's England v Honduras Player Ratings

England were rarely tested by Honduras, but will be frustrated at failing to break down stubborn opposition. Daniel Sturridge was guilty of missing several great chances...

chelseablue_no1 - Hahaha, jeeeez, a damming assessment of the England team with exceptions made for Lampard only! Nice, not at all bias!

@highsociety - A bit rich a Liverpool fan calling anyone a plastic considering their club was the original plastic supported club in the country. I've been a Chelsea fan since the mid '70s mate when we were a bit shit, I never went to school with Liverpool or Man Utd bags like all the plastics did, I supported the nearest club (that I knew at that time) to my area, I also followed and supported Wimbledon (unless they were playing Chelsea) as I was from that area when they became a league club. I've seen the bad times at Chelsea and now I am enjoying the good times. My opinion on the players performances against Honduras is spot on (imo), Cahill and also Jagielka did their jobs, nothing else needed to be said, as for Lampard, he had 10 mins and Matt Stanger and Peter Fraser slagged him off for not having the legs to change a game as opposed to Barkley who had a full 45 mins to change the game and failed. It was Hondurus, we drew 0-0, who deserves praise for that?

I think Chelseablue was spot on with his post, when he said ' i don't get it ' .Something that he proves time and time again with his nonsense posts.

To sum up chelseablue's ratings- Chelsea players did their job well and no complaints. Everybody else gets slated. No favoritism there. You really are a plank. Obvious from your comments lately that you know sod all about football. Not really surprised as it's obvious that you're a plastic who started following Chelsea after Abromovich money came.

Far be it from me to defend Johnson (I think he's rubbish too) but it's a strange choice of stat to attack him. "it was surprising that a player who completed 46 successful dribbles in the Premier League in 2013/14 made just one against Honduras". He played 29 games last season, so averaged roughly 1.5 per game. I'd say that was nearly consistent with his season.

Given all the players you've described as "game changers" I do worry that we'll be starting with less than eleven on the pitch.

RE Wilshere, yes he completed all his passes, but some of them led directly to England losing possession. His bad habit of going on mazy runs into the middle of nowhere almost always ends with him getting into trouble and offloading to the nearest player, who more often than not is tightly marked or isn't expecting a sudden sharp pass, meaning they get tackled straight away. It happened with Lallana twice last night, and Andy Townsend annoyingly commented that it was Lallana's fault. I'm not saying Wilshere should stop dribbling as occasionally it comes off - the Barkley chance, and his great goal last season, are evidence enough - but he can't take that approach every time he gets the ball.

Thought man of the match was between Welbeck and Henderson. Both had bundles of energy and a good amount of creativity. Welbeck in particular was involved in nearly everything good that England did going forward.

Joe Hart - You get that 2010 feeling all over again. Glen Johnson - I think we know what you get with Johnson, mediocrity. Gary Cahill - Did his job. Phil Jagielka - Also did his job. Leighton Baines - I still worry that Woy didn't select Ashley. Steven Gerrard - I find it amazing that he still gets praised for doing practically sod all, whether that be in an attacking sense or defensively. Jordan Henderson - Like Gerrard, didn't do a lot and a late shot from 20 yards that went about a mile wide and high. Adam Lallana - I don't get it, except for a few flicks, half of which lost possession, he didn't create much, would much prefer to have a player with a bit of pace on the pitch, between him and Welbeck for a place with Sterling starting. Danny Welbeck - Doesn't do enough in that left side position. Wayne Rooney - Rooney is Rooney, not a lot to say that hasn't already been said, needs to do better. Daniel Sturridge - I'd still start him, but he needs to take those chances and make the net bulge. Subs: Jack Wilshere - Still don't see the international quality in him. Ross Barkley - A few nice touches, but drifted in and out of the game and still needs to make his mind up quicker when it comes to passing, it's either that or he lacks vision of what's around him. Had the whole of the second half to change the game, failed. Fraser Forster - At least we had one goalkeeper play in these three games that didn't raise my heartbeat. Frank Lampard - Unlike Barkley, didn't have the whole second half to change the game, but did shore up the midfield for the last 10 minutes.

PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
