Costa is a quality player and will be an absolute beast for Chelsea. Don't forget he will have Hazard and Oscar feeding him in the PL plus any other players Chelsea sign before the transfer deadline. A United fan worrying about another club's squad quality is funny mind. Just wait and see what signings you guys make and how well you do next season before you start prematurely slating other teams chances.

All the shadenfreude aimed at Chelsea/Costa should be tempered slightly. The man is a beast of a centre forward, but like all pure strikers (apart from "The Pheneomenon" Ronaldo), he needs the team to be set-up to provide his ammo, which Spain were not. The man scored 27 goals in La Liga this season, without being Messi or Ronaldo. He's no mug. But Atletico were set up to get the best out of him - balls into the channel, early through balls he could chase, early crosses. Spain did none of that. They tried to adapt their game to fit him in, but they couldn't do it well enough. He was also unfit, and yes Suarez was unfit too, but at least he fits with the way Uruguay play. Costa is a clinical finisher when on his game with good feet and surprisingly good dribbling ability, and I think it's a pretty sure bet that Mourinho will have Chelsea play to his strengths. Expect him to score plenty next season.

For all those Chelsea fans defending Costa for not being match fit, I give you a not match fit Suarez who destroyed England, now what's your excuse? ROFLCOPTER to Stamford Bridge...Spanish Billy Whitehurst. Fact.

@morpheus99 - and from watching Holland can we conclude that RvP is tetchy, whiney little f**ker, who picks and chooses his form dependent upon whether he likes them or not?

@morpheus99 - Chelsea have far better players than those that failed to turn up for Spain, plus Costa is hardly match fit, should have stayed at home and fully recover from that hamstring injury he picked up at the end of the season.

Chile look useful and I have a small each way on them, Colombia and the French, but I think it is a little early to call them a younger version of the Spanish team. Decent team but better teams than Spain will give them problems at the back. The Spanish have, so far, managed one penalty in this tournament. They had the majority of the ball last night. Age and loss of hunger is the reason they are going home so soon.

After seeing spain's first two games its clear to everyone that chelsea are not getting the world class striker they thought they were and the rest of the league can breathe a bit easier

@damoceltic, and Thiago. He's a decent little player as well, and still very young. Spains future looks bright, in principle. They just need to freshen things up.
