Rodriguez - The Boy Who Would Be King James

Colombia have reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time, largely thanks to the magnificence of a 22-year-old playmaker. Step forward James Rodriguez...

Please may the gods of football spare him the premiership, and the obsessions with running around a lot, tracking back, blah de blah. He's a creature of sunnier climes. Let's just enjoy him taking a bunch of our overpaid, expensively assembled vanity teams once or twice a year, and reminding us that it isn't really "the best league in the world".

Well it's seems lie people complaining about the articles on F365 has become a common. Could it just be a result of England's limp exit. Like some have mentioned, he was absolutely amazing at Porto and the only surprise about his transfer was not the fee but that he decided to join Falcao in Monaco. A new star we can appreciate watching for years to come.

@redrum - you're saying that Colombia have yet to play a "good team"? So Uruguay - victors over England and Italy - are not a good side? And in stark contrast Brazil and Argentina have laboured against top class, potential winners such as...? With the exception of Chile (who Brazil didn't actually beat, don't forget), I can't think of any "good teams" they have played either, but it hasn't stopped the predictable ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Messi, Neymar etc.

@shea666, from what I have read he has no intention of playing in the Premier League, which is a shame. To contradict Daniel Storey doing it in the last 16 of the World Cup is not the biggest stage of all, he has to do it on a wet, windy and cold Wednesday night in Stoke that's the barometer, all this is just * teasing otherwise, :-)

Same scene plays over year after year, since about 2003. New edition of Football Manager is released. Buy, install, start new game, sign James Rodriguez.

Harry - I never claimed to have all/any answers. For what it's worth (if anything at all, probably nothing), I do think that the writers on this site are ridiculously obsessed with other Football writers across the UK media.... to the point that we now get articles like this billing a player, who should be reasonably well known already, as the 'next big thing'. All things told, it's as if they feel their writing only gains validation when they include an assessment of other commentary such as Ashton et al. Anyway, I'll spare you any more complaining.

PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
