Saints Alive Despite Death Knells...

An awful lot of cash has been thrown in Southampton's direction for a collection of players with itchy feet who took them into mid-table. This is not a crisis; it's excellent business...

Good point by Saint Sam. Lets stay calm, we've sold old news in most cases and good riddance to any more who are for the cause. anyone who watches saints youth play knows what's on the horizon.

It could work out if the money's invested well, but you can see why just surviving in the Premier League isn't much of an ambition for the club's fans, or for its players. Of course Schneiderlin is furious that he's being kept in a gutted team, when so many players have been allowed to leave. I don't think I remember Football365 being so strongly in favour of one point of view (one anonymous talker - a pretty standard thing in football - was 'a coward'), except maybe against the tabloids pro-Harry Redknapp stance (and there I'm more in sympathy with you.)

Agreed, they are selling good players for damn good money, but I think they will find more than adequate replacements. I hope Southampton don't go down, there are other slightly more reprehensible teams around them. They do need to strengthen mind, otherwise Ronald Koeman could be the oldest player manager the Premier League has seen and Le Tissier the oldest striker. Southampton meets Space Cowboys.

icky van Wolfswinkel's remarkable record of one goal from one game at least deserves an honourable mention. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of Costa, Ulloa or Enner Valencia will earn a place on the list by the end of the season. Probably not Costa
