The 22-year-old made some fine saves as Blackburn won the fifth-round tie 1-0 but has praised his team-mates after what he believes will be a confidence-boosting success.

Kean told the club's official website: "It wasn't all down to me, I was in the right place at the right time. There were many blocks in there by the defenders.

"There's a confidence flowing throughout the team at the minute, especially within the back four. We are a strong unit, we work well together.

"They've been outstanding since I've come into the team, without them it could have been four or five. It is a massive result for us, we are on a good run as it is so staying in the cup will help us.

"We can build on the defensive performance that we showed and take it on from there to the game against Hull on Tuesday."

Blackburn boss Michael Appleton is also hoping his side can build on their triumph at Emirates Stadium when they face Hull.

"What we have to do very quickly is to move on because we have a game against Hull on Tuesday night, which is almost a reality check," said Appleton, whose side are six points off the play-offs in eighth.

"It is our bread and butter, what we will be doing for 46 games across the season, so that is my job and my staff, to make sure we can get that over to the players."

Rovers captain Scott Dann feels the result was testament to the hard work put in by Appleton since his arrival from Blackpool just five weeks ago.

"In the last 18 months there has been too much going on behind the scenes with managers coming and managers going back out not too long after," the defender said.

"What we needed was a bit of stability and the new manager has given us that.

"The way that they have turned things around and got us playing at the moment, we are going from strength to strength."
