Puns
If Newcastle do sign Gaetan Bong, I'll try and save headline writers some time:
He scores on his debut with a 40 yard volley-Whama-Dalla Ping Bong
He gets Lee Cattermoled by Lee Cattermole-Black Cat Smokes Bong
Newcastle get a pay day loan to get the money to buy him from their new sponsers-Bong-A Wonga!
He gets the Balon D'or instead of Lionel Messi next season-Bong Gong All Wrong!

Destroying The Carefully Laid Plans
I really enjoyed Andi Thomas' piece about Luis Suarez, the pantomime villain. It had a lot more depth than most of the pieces I read on football websites, so more of that please.
Even though I'm a Liverpool supporter and I happen to love all the antics, I understand why Suarez grates the opposition and the neutral. But even in your hateful and histrionic haze, I think everyone can admit the old cliche that you would love him if he played for you.
For God's sake, the boy has the ability to nutmeg players at the highest level. I didn't think that was possible anymore! Honestly, with the game evolving into unit tactics, can't we all just admit how refreshing it is to have these players who destroy all the carefully laid plans of men like Mourinho and Benitez who see the game as a chess match?
I only disagree with the conclusion that you can either be an adult or be a child, but we can't be both. It's not horseshoes and it's not hand grenades; it's football, and the beauty is that we can be everything we want even when it's contradictory. We don't have to be the serious bloke in the office who thinks the company would go to hell if he were to leave. We don't have to be the drunk sleeping on his mate's couch after yet another girl left him for someone a bit more sensible. We don't have to hate ourselves pretending to be sensitive to score with the girl of our dreams. We can be everything we want to be and leave it out there for all to see.
We can even write into forums shouting about something knowing we don't take it that seriously in the hope that some other childish adult or grown-up child or Chris from Liverpool will take the bait and shout back knowing it doesn't actually bother him in comparison to more serious things going on in the world. It is a pantomime as Mr. Thomas rightly suggests, and that's the beauty of it. We can be large; we can contain multitudes.
Happy 2013,
Niall, Washington
Logic
Of course TONY (Life is so simple in my head .. really) MUFC it is easier to keep a clean sheet if you score first as if the opponent scores first that's the clean sheet gone.

VERY ANNOYED
Not one for usually sending in a mail but it's Friday, I am in work, people are annoying me with the whole It's Friday thing whilst I am working over the weekend. So here goes!
I am reading the Big Weekend article and I have managed to get two paragraphs in before becoming annoyed. It is a big weekend for Liverpool, you are quite correct, but did you have to throw in the rather harsh, overly judgmental, knee jerk reaction of "It leads one to wonder, with some amount of justification, whether Brendan Rodgers is actually doing a good job." I know this is an opinion based web site, and I love the site, but you guys are usually the first to criticize when a manager gets sacked after half a season or fans react in similar fashion.
I know you are not directly saying Rodgers should be sacked, but it's little insinuatory comments like that, that make it easier for clubs to justify sacking a manager. Not even a full season under his belt and he is already having people labeling what he is doing as "not very good." I know it;s easy to get at Liverpool cause the supporters are disliked but come on, how about waiting until the guy comes the end end of his contract until we judge him. We sometimes forget that Sir Alex didn't turn Man United into he powerhouse they now are in his first season, Arsene Wenger missed the champions league in his first year in charge (harsh I know, cause there was only 2 spots open but still). Lets give Brendon Rodgers and managers a chance please eh?

Don't Over-Analyse
TJ raises a point a lot of bloggers and commenters who are of the Ronaldolove persuasion seem to cling to in championing their bronzed man, that Messi Ronaldo is better than Messi purely based on the fact that he's played and been successful in the EPL. Had Ronaldo played in and been successful in the Bundesliga, would you still rate him as better? Or is it only because he was a champion in the world greatest league (tm)?
Can the same also be said for Scholes? Giggs? Who only played for one club. By your logic Fat Frank is better since hes played for more clubs...is Paolo Maldini also crap since he never played outside the loving confined of AC Milan?
Can we stop overanalyzing this please. People will have their individual preferences. But for me the fact that the Messi conversation is currently whether or not he is the best ever...I've never heard anyone raise this about Ronaldo even his most die-hard fans.

More On Ads
Hari Raj, MUFC, formerly Melbourne now Beijing, the 'real Ronaldo' never used to do these adverts. This guy I believe held the World Record in keepy-ups. Do remember him coming into my secondary school to perform, then fell off the stage... Brilliant.

Scrotum
"'Arry Redders goes face to big rubbery scrotum-esque face with his old club Spurs this weekend"
I could only read this quote on F365. Brilliant.

To complete Joe (More pros need to go back to their roots) West Ham old boys team - if they re-sign Julian Dicks and Ludek Miklosko to go with that team I'd consider changing allegiance to them.
