Chrisanderson, I'm not sure United wanted to sign Henderson. We know they looked at him, but decided against a bid.

Chrisanderson says...

How can you say that "it's unlikely the 22-year-old will ever justify his hefty price tag" when he is JUST 22 years old, and he's the captain of England U-21's? With Carrick signing for Manchester United for as much money, and (at the time) 3 years older than Henderson, I think it's ridiculous you can draw a line under Henderson's improvement and state something purely on guess work. With Manchester United wanting to sign Henderson for £20m, we took a potential world-class, ENGLISH, young midfielder from under the noses of a rival at a slightly inflated (but not completely unreasonable in the marketplace) price. Because he was played for over 50 games last season, and 99% of those out of position, he shouldn't be painted as a failure, he's got great potential - a lot more so than any of the other midfielders on the list, but I guess that's the point of the article.

Barry and Carrick are both very good players, who perform well in the Premier League. The reason some people have poor opinions of them is they both got taken apart in high profile games - Carrick twice in Champions League Finals by two of the best 5 players in the world and an unfit Barry against an insanely dynamic German team in the World Cup. Unfair in my mind, they're both excellent, just not on the same level as the very best.

t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.

aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.
