The Player-Manager Is No More...

Would Kenny Dalglish have become a manager if he hadn't had a shot at being a player-manager? It's completely gone out of fashion, partly because of bureaucracy..

Financial doping would suggest cheating. Spending money that you have earned through success (rather than have been gifted by an owner) is surely not the same.

I think there's a flip-side to the licensing side of management: even professional footballers hardly work 40h weeks like the rest of us, how long can it take, train 2 hours, have a massage, some tactics etc, maybe 5h a day? Given the spare time and income professional footballers enjoy, surely having a private teacher/tutor is and getting the correct qualifications is such a big push for someone serious about becoming a manager, coach, or.. player/manager?

Quick question, if you win a cup as player manager do you get 2 medals (as long as you play in the final that is)?

I wish Warnock would get his boots on so half of the Champo teams could boot 7 shades of s**t out of him.

It hasnt gone out fashion at all, football has just evolved. 60 games a season, far more tactical and technical analysis etc just makes it impossible for someone to do both
