Atlético's Big Chance To Break Top Two

Atlético Madrid are charging towards their best finish in La Liga since they last won the title in 1996. Can Diego Simeone keep them on course to break up the big two?

raphy13; no. The situation is that between them, Real Madrid and Barcelona take a huge slice of the pie (about 60% of TV revenue, or something like that) but that is due to individually negotiated TV deals that they own with various TV companies. It's not based on their final league standing. The tragic inevitability being that if Athletico finish above Real Madrid, RM will almost certainly go out and spend another £100m+ on re-setting the previous status quo. Uphot is that no other team in Spain can compete with Real and Barca's financial muscle. RM will, in all likelyhood, simply buy Falcao and reset the difference.

Mr Editor, sir Editor, lord Editor, I was just wondering something. I believe it to be true that at the end of the season the top two finishers in La Liga take a huge slice of financial pie and the rest have to share the leftovers. Is this true? I hope so

m absolutely disgusted that I've been misquoted in saying that if a chance came up to join Arsenal I would be interested. What I meant to say is if Man United or Chelsea were interested......

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone
