"Spurs failiure to qualify for champions league last year" get a grip it was due to Chelsea winning it and the UEFA rule that spurs did not get in but Spurs did qualify.

If Bale came to United I doubt I'd buy the shirt with 'Bale' on the back, if Ronnie came back I'd be straight down to the megastore snapping up the Ronaldo7 shirt.

@the anti eunuch> United walking the league has more to do with Mancini's managerial incompetence than RVP going to United.

And while I would love to see Ronaldo or Bale at United, I can't see either player coming in the offseason. I expect we sign a left winger and hopefully a quality central midfielder (unless Nick Powell has grown leaps and bounds and is ready for the first team).

alright fair enough. I was just pointing out that while everyone seems to be taking a kicking in the media at the moment, united as usual are being touted as getting all the best players, and universally pronounced as being unstoppable. It's just a bit annoying is all. I'm feeling a little sensitive today apparently.....

last year f365 ran a campaign to convince everyone we should all want van persie at united instead of city "to make the league more exciting". This season, when united have walked the league, that seems to have become less important for some reason. Now we have a new campaign to get bale to united. I can't for the life of me work out which club pays the most media bungs......?

In contrast Citys entire first teams and even bench are all bought when they were already established players elsewhere. So Mike is right, Youth & local players provide the spine of the United team while foreigners and expensive purchases provide the flair. Its why United have strength in depth while Mancini complains that he doesn't have enough overpaid Mercs sitting on his bench, coz no youth players are given a chance.

HarryBoulton - my understanding was that its been looked at already and no rules have been contravened, my point is that it shows Levy is willing to stand up to anyway. Of course I understand the way the market works and being a Spurs fan know how players heads can be turned. The difference is that, as proved with Modric last year, Levy is fully prepared to let a player sulk if he doesn't want to sell. He'll go eventually but I suspect not this season.

If Ferguson holds as much sway in the corridoors of power as some claim, Spurs may get a slap round the chops for that bit of deviency. As for Bale, listen, if Suarez or Ronaldo van have their heads turned by Europes elite, then so can Bale. Do not make the mistake of claiming the boy has white blood and dreams of Tottenham Hotspur. No player in todays market is untouchable, especially wehn Real Madrid and Barcelona are having a sniff. Spain offers life style that this country can only dream of and pays equally as well. Even if he moved to Chelsea or City or United, the big Spanish clubs could still take him, albeit for an even greater fee.
